Float  Therapy

Float therapy is the practice of lying back effortlessly and drifting into a blissful, deep, meditative state that rejuvenates and revives your mind and body. The floatation experience is delivered through a super-saturated Epsom-salt solution, 10" deep and containing 1200lbs of magnesium rich Epsom-salts. The solution is heated to skin temperature (96°F) and the environment in the pod is controlled so that the air is also skin temperature. Once you are settled, it is impossible to tell where your body ends and the water begins.


Simply put, floating calms our overly stimulated systems and restores the body’s chemical and metabolic balance. Without distraction, the mind is free to renew, refresh and revive and the body gets to rest, de-stress and heal. As soon as you lay back in the float pod, all of the tension is relieved from your muscles, joints and tendons, allowing you to achieve a state of "weightless meditation" as you float effortlessly in the Epsom salt solution. Research consistently demonstrates that floating has a significant impact on:​

What to Expect

Purists recommend floating in total darkness and silence to experience the best meditative and relaxation benefits but, rest assured, you will have total control of your session. At your comfort, you may turn the lights off or leave them on, close the lid completely or leave it partially or fully open; and enjoy music at the start of your session, throughout your session or not at all. 

Prepare For Your Visit

To make the most of your floating experience, heed the following guidelines:

  1. Come relaxed, not in a hurry or rushed. We offer a variety of CBD products at Slick Rock to help you relax and enhance your float session. 

  2. Avoid caffeine for a few hours before as it can prevent you from getting into the relaxation/ meditation zone.

  3. Eat a light meal a few hours before, floating on a full stomach isn’t a good idea.

  4. ​Feel free to exercise beforehand, the relaxation is more pronounced if you are heading over from yoga, the gym or a run.

  5. Nicotine is a stimulant so it's best to avoid smoking or vaping just before your float.

  6. Avoid shaving on the day of your float. We provide Vaseline in each float room, which you can use to protect cuts and scratches, but it's best not to enter the salty water with freshly shaved skin.

  7. Use the restroom before your float if needed; you do not want to be getting out/in during your session or trying to relax with a full bladder.

  8. During your pre-float shower, keep the water lukewarm. Taking a hot shower may delay your relaxation by making the float water seem cool when you first enter the float.

  9. Keep an open mind. About 50% of new floaters fall in love after their very first float, claiming it's the most relaxing thing they've ever done. Others claim to achieve their deepest meditative state or best while floating; while others have difficulty relaxing and feel antsy. It is said that three sessions to determine how 

  10. Try different positions to fully relax, allowing your arms and legs to spread out naturally, putting your hands behind your head or resting them on your stomach. Some clients like to cross one leg over the other.

  11. Many clients find counting down from 100 helps them get into a more relaxed state, taking note of each slow breath in and out. You will float effortlessly, so try to let every part of your body fully relax as you float into a blissful state. 

  12. Leave yourself some time to enjoy the experience so you are not rushing in/out, plan to arrive 15 minutes early for check-in and give yourself 15 minutes in addition to your 30-60 minute float session for pre- and post-showers.

  13. Drink plenty of water and enjoy the state of relaxation you have achieved.
